On Christmas Day – The American Boychoir

On Christmas Day – The American Boychoir

From the mission statement of the American Boychoir – “The American Boychoir was founded in 1937 in Columbus, Ohio as the Columbus Boychoir and has been located in Princeton, New Jersey since 1950.The mission of The American Boychoir is to sustain and move forward with a distinctively American voice the one-thousand-year-old boychoir school tradition. The American Boychoir is committed to being the finest choir of its kind in the nation and among the finest in the world.”

This recording lives up to the world class reputation of this fine ensemble. This collection of familiar Christmas fare has been around awhile, recorded in 1989. The wonderful, clear sopranos of The American Boychoir along with the Cathedral Symphony Orchestra and the New York Vocal Consort, all under the direction of James Litton, make for a beautiful and moving experience.
